How It Helps Protect Your Skin

Flavosomes is a proprietary formula consisting of extracts of the edible portion of the artichoke, sarsaparilla root, and rose petals in a liquid concentrate developed to be used as a cosmetic, skin care ingredient.  The naturally occurring flavonoids and polyphenols, acid, sarsaponin, stigmasterol, and glycolic acid, have extensive history of addressing the damage to skin brought on by chronic exposure to external and internal toxins, ultraviolet radiation, hormonal imbalances, free radical damage, and what is considered normal degenerative processes due to aging.  This complex of phytonutrients provides comprehensive protection and regenerative qualities to any skin care program by adding the following features:

Antioxidant.  Flavosomes inhibits free radical damage brought about by exposure to environmental pollutants, drug use, ultraviolet radiation, and improper diets.  Free radical formation is responsible for causing collagen, a protein found in the dermal layer of the skin, to become hard and cross-linked with neighboring collagen fibers, preventing it from holding water and maintaining elasticity.  This cross-linked collagen then collapses on itself resulting in wrinkling of the skin.  Flavosomes has a group of phytonutrients, including Vitamin C that function as anti-oxidants and neutralize these harmful free radicals to help prevent damage to the skin's dermal layer and keep the skin hydrated, soft and supple.

Anti-Aging.  Flavosomes helps to keep the skin cell membranes resilient by providing an array of poly-unsaturated fatty acids and other fatty acids that enhance healthy cell membrane function.  By normalizing cell membrane permeability, elimination of environmental and internal toxins is increased, thereby preventing toxic accumulation and premature cell death.

Anti-Inflammatory.  Flavosomes provides a complex of plant flavonoids that promote the binding of protein links within the cell membranes, thereby supporting cellular repair, decreasing the normal healing of inflammatory processes and minimizing the visible signs of aging.

Ultraviolet Filter.  Flavosomes  are pigments produced by the plant to carry on various functions.  Some of these flavonoids are used by the plant to prevent damage due to extended exposure to harmful ultraviolet radiation from the sun.  These same plant pigments, found in high concentrations in the Flavosomes, offer a good natural protection and help to prevent premature aging of the skin.

Cellular Regenerative.  The flavonoids found with Flavosomes have been found to increase microcirculation to the skin, as well as decrease capillary wall fragility.  By normalizing blood supply, Flavosomes supports the body's efforts in providing adequate nutrition to the cells, and at the same time, help to eliminate accumulation of metabolic and environmental toxins resulting in a smooth, youthful complexion.

Natural Exfolient.  Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA's) are a group of plant or fruit acids that promote the exfoliation, or removal, of dead skin cells.  Studies show that, because of its size, Glycolic Acid possesses the greatest penetration potential of this entire group.  Other Alpha Hydroxy Acids include malic acid (found in apples), lactic acid (found in sour milk), and tartaric acid (found in grapes).  Glycolic Acid, found naturally occurring in artichokes, helps to dissolve the "cellular cement" that binds dead cells together.  Consequently, the skin's dry, outer layer is gently sloughed away, revealing a softer, revitalized glow.

Anti-Microbial.  The flavonoids found in Flavosomes have been found to have anti-viral qualities accomplished by providing a protective coating around the skin's cell membranes, preventing viral penetration through the skin cell membrane, and supporting the skin's efforts in fighting infection from opportunistic micro-organisms.
