As we age, illness and disease occupy our

New Year Resolutions
 You
know you're going to do it - make New Year's resolutions -- and
you also have to admit that you often don't carry through on
them. So how can you be more successful this year in the annual
ritual of planning for a fresh start on your self-care?
First, recognize that there are two big mistakes
in setting resolutions: making them too ambitious and failing to
be specific about the steps to achieve the change. For
example, you may resolve to lose 40 pounds in 2010. But how,
exactly, are you going to do that?
Assess your current lifestyle. How do you eat
and how active are you? If you can't identify where you are, it
will be difficult to know where you need to go.
Suppose you skip breakfast, have a rushed lunch,
and then find yourself wolfing down supper and then snacking all
night. You would do well to learn to eat breakfast, and a
substantial one. (Research shows a solid breakfast usually leads
to lower calorie intake the rest of the day.) Therefore, your
resolution might be: "I will eat breakfast 4 out of 7 days a
week." No use tempting perfection. Set an achievable goal. Your
next goal might be: "I will bring lunch 3 times a week and
include a fruit and a vegetable in that lunch."
The weak link in consuming a healthy diet
(maximum nutrients for minimal calories) is fruits and
vegetables. These are nutrient powerhouses that are generally
low in calories. If you realize that you don't consume 1 ½ to 2
cups of fruit and 2 to 2 ½ cups of vegetables DAILY, start
planning now for a resolution that will help you meet that goal.

Cleansing for Your Health
Why do we need cleansing? Toxins.
