Childhood
Obesity
Many parents don't know or refuse to admit that their child is obese.
This may be because they don't want to admit it or they think the child
will simply outgrow the problem.
But, if it is not remedied, it can lead to diabetes, high blood
pressure and high cholesterol, plus it may mean they are obese all their
lives.
Usually, if a child is obese, one or both parents are also obese.
This means the entire family needs to get healthy! Find out
what is causing the child to overeat. Is it unhealthy foods?
Stress? A dramatic change? Find out what is the key and try to fix
it.
Get outside and play with your kids. Be a positive role model.
You and your child can give up the soda and junk food. Limit the
amount of time the child watches television or plays video games.
Provide healthy snacks. And, try to stay away from fast food
joints.
Then, when progress is made, reward the child with an activity that
they enjoy. Go to the zoo or a museum.
Have fun and be healthy! |
