Many people with asthma try to avoid exercise, because it is a common trigger for most asthmatics. But, most physicians encourage patients to cautiously exercise. Children who exercise for 90-minutes twice a week, have an increase in lung function and a decrease in their requirement for inhaled steroids when compared to children who do not exercise.
A new study shows that 56.3% of the asthma cases in the United States are linked to allergies. And of that number, 29% are caused by cats, while 21% belong to white oak and 21% to the outdoor fungus Altermaria. Others tested included ragweed, dust mites, Russian thistle, Bermuda grass, peanuts, perennial rye, and the German cockroach.
If you have an allergy to cats, please try to limit your time with the cat. It may not be necessary to get rid of the pet.
Studies have shown that exposure to cats may increase your risk of asthma, but studies have also sown that if a child is exposed early on to cats, they may not develop allergies towards cats at all.
