Bone Cancer

The most common form of bone cancer is osteosarcoma, which develops in new tissue in growing bones. Osteosarcoma is also called osteogenic sarcoma.  It is a cancer of the bone that usually affects the large bones of the arm or leg and is most commonly found young males. Ewing's sarcoma is also more prevalent in children and adolescents.

Chondrosarcoma is a cancer that develops in cartilage and occurs more often in adults.

New cases of primary bone cancer only occur about 2,500 times each year in the United States. Symptoms include pain in the bones, fatigue, fever, weight loss, and anemia, but these may symptoms of other illnesses as well.
