Alternative Therapies and Complementary Therapies for Diabetes
Studies have shown that chromium, used as a supplement, may help control insulin levels. Ginseng has been shown to lower glucose levels when fasting and after meals. And, as with any herb, the levels in the ginseng tablets varies, so it is hard to ensure you are receiving the same amounts. Studies have shown that a lack of magnesium reduces the control of glucose levels in type 2 diabetes patients. Vanadium studies have shown that it slightly increases insulin sensitivity and patients can decrease their insulin somewhat. Note: Always consult your physician before trying alternative therapies. |
