Dark Chocolate.
Healthy Chocolate!
Dark chocolate is good for you. Not so with white or milk
chocolate. Dark chocolate has antioxidants and plant phenols that
can improve your health.
Dark chocolate lowers high blood pressure, but you must be careful.
If you eat chocolate to lower your blood pressure, you will need to eat
less of something else to offset the calories.
Dark chocolate has antioxidants which combat free radicals. They
are molecules that lead to heart disease and other
age-related illnesses.
Dark chocolate contains cocoa phenols. Plant phenols have
compounds that lower blood pressure. European chocolate usually
has more cocoa phenols than American chocolate. Try to buy as dark
a chocolate as possible.
Do not drink milk if you are eating dark chocolate. The milk
blocks the absorption of the antioxidants and nullifies the good you
might be doing.
Dark chocolate should not replace healthy foods you are currently
eating. Replace a sweet that you with the chocolate. |
