Eating Healthy Even With a Busy Life
Do
you feel like you do nothing but run? Do you get off work, pickup
the kids, drop off the teenager at music practice, go to T-ball
practice, go back to pick up the teen, go home, fix dinner, help with
homework, take baths, do laundry, and fall into bed?
That seems to be the normal life in the 21st century. Many people
try to fit in the meal somewhere in the running around, but fast food
has more calories and less nutrition. But, it is possible to eat while
running and to stay healthy with a little thought. 75% of office
personnel eat at their desks at least twice a week. If you are one
of these, plan ahead and bring healthy foods and snacks with you.
What you bring from home is usually
healthier than
what you would pick up at a fast food restaurant, cafeteria or snack
room machine. If you have a fridge at work or you can bring a
small cooler, try bringing cheese, low-fat yogurt, raw vegetables or
peanut butter to eat. Turkey, tuna or salads are great lunches.
Try edamame for a snack instead of candy.
There are healthy alternatives and you probably won't feel as rushed if
you stay nearby. If you or the kids eat breakfast in the car, choose
foods that are easily eaten in the car, but still have nutrition.
Peanut butter sandwiches on pita bread can be left in the car and still
have protein. Put some carrots, apples or blueberries in small
snack-size bags for them to munch on, plus this controls how much they
eat. Chose wisely and you can still be healthy. |
