You Are What You Eat

Many chronic health problems and symptoms are
caused, at least in part, by nutrient deficiencies. It follows
that remedying the deficiencies will help these ailments to the
extent that they are deficiency-related.
Studies involving over 60,000 delinquent
children and teens have linked malnutrition to juvenile
delinquency. Anger, depression, tension, fatigue and confusion
were all linked to vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Diet
modification produced 54% lower rates of antisocial behavior,
and the simple ad- |
ministration of multiple vitamin and mineral
supplements at RDA levels changed most delinquents into normal
kids.
In a study of 803 public schools, making
lunches more nutritious actually reduced the number of “learning
disabled” children from 120,000 to 49,000. According to the
Lancet, a well-known and prestigious medical journal,
intelligence levels of school children actually rose measurably
with vitamin and mineral supplementation.
My basic diet rule is: Eliminate the Bad
Stuff and Eat More of the Good Stuff! |

When
your pores are not working properly, excessive toxins in the
pores can lead to acne. Body odor is also a result of toxins
coming out through the skin that should be moving out through
the other elimination channels. If your body skin is clean and
its pores are open and unclogged, toxins will move out through
the pores without creating pimples or eruptions. The skin
normally moves 1-2 pounds of toxins out of your skin daily. You
can tell when your pores are open. You sweat freely during
exercise. If you do not sweat much during hot weather or
exercise, then your pores are probably plugged. Although sugar
and greasy foods do not directly cause acne, they are overall
not healthy for you and can reduce the body's ability to build a
strong immune system. Choose wisely to consume in moderation.
ANOTHER BENEFIT OF
SEVEN ESSENTIALS …
Enhance
Cellular Wellness
Your health begins at the cellular level and
anti-oxidants play a vital role in defending the cell from toxic
free radicals. Seven Essentials contains hundreds of
naturally occurring anti-oxidants like glutathione, gamma
oryzanol, tocotrienols, polysaccharides, carotenoids and
polyphenols. The ORAC score of
a daily
serving
of Seven Essentials is over 21,000 units ~ an antioxidant
equivalent of over 42 servings of vegetables! For most people,
eating two servings of Seven Essentials (1.2 million ORAC
units per month) provides them with more antioxidant protection
than they otherwise get in months of eating the Standard
American Diet. Seven Essentials is like taking millions
of bodyguards into your body to keep your precious cells safe
from toxic free radicals. |

The Nutrients You Need
A recent government report found that
Americans aren't getting enough calcium, fiber, magnesium,
potassium, or vitamins A, C, and E. "You're not going to have a
major health event as a result," says Alanna Moshfegh, an author
of the USDA report What We Eat in America, "but recommended
amounts will help you maintain your health and decrease your
risk of chronic diseases." |

Proper Nutrition?
Larry Twohig, a Physiologist and highly sought
after Personal Trainer in New York, explains to his clients the
five factors driving
sensible
weight
loss:
1) proper nutrition
2) stress/time management
3) rest/recovery
4) efficient exercise
5) proper nutrition
Notice that proper nutrition is listed twice and
he uses the word “sensible”. |

Eating too much grease, fat and margarine can
increase your risk of cancer. Too much grease weakens your
body's defense system. Eating too much greasy, fried food can
cause colon cancer. Another problem is eating too much meat and
not enough fruits and vegetables. Meat has more fat than any
other food we eat. Ground beef, sausage, and bacon are very high
in fat. Eat chicken, turkey and fish more often. |

You Are What You Eat… But Are You What You
Smell?
 |
Scientists have discovered that odors
can be used to alter our mood and mental state. The
smells we give off can also reveal vital clues about our
health and even our personality. We may not realize it,
but smells help shape our world. |
|

Studies show that smelling cinnamon can improve a driver's
concentration level as well as calming the driver, making them
less irritable. Sniffing a lemon can also improve driving
skills, because scientists have found that lemons are good for
clear thinking. |

“Exercise, if used correctly, is a fantastic
tool to facilitate weight loss and to improve mood and
confidence. However, it is not the be all, end all to losing
weight. You can exercise till you bleed, but it will not make a
difference in how you look if you don’t take care of yourself
outside of the gym. Eat junk; look like junk! I can’t put it
simpler than that.”

Prevent
Memory Loss
"You are what you eat" goes the old saying. But can you
“remember what you eat"? More proof that diet can influence
cognitive health and dementia was released from a long-term
study involving over 3,000 people age 65 and older who had no
sign of dementia at its start.
During the 11-year study, the subjects who
showed the least mental decline were those whose normal diets
most closely resembled the low-fat, high-fiber DASH diet
(Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension). DASH is a diet used
to combat high blood pressure, which is one of the risk factors
for dementia.
Utah State University researchers say that this
same group also scored the highest on memory, attention span,
and problem solving skills.

Smelling lemons can make you feel healthy.
In tests at the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia,
people were quizzed weekly about their health. On days
when the room was scented with lemons, fewer people reported
health problems. |
 |

A study of athletes showed those exposed to
mint before exercising increased their push-ups, running speed
and hand grip strength. Better performance may be
triggered by a psychological lift that comes from smelling the
minty aroma. |

Drop some rose petals on your pillow for
pleasant dreams. German researchers found that women who
went to sleep with the scent of roses had more positive dreams
than those in an odor-free bedroom. Those exposed to the
smell of rotten eggs had the scariest. |
